Dear Friend,

  As my first term as Mayor comes to a close, I wanted to thank you for your trust, your advice and your prayers. Over the last three years, my family has been blessed with the encouragement and the friendship of so many across our city. Together our City Council, our community partners and individual citizens like yourself have worked tirelessly to move Maitland forward. I’m proud to say that we’ve succeeded beyond expectations!

  Even in the face of the most difficult economic times Florida’s cities have faced, the City was able to achieve its goals and live within its means. We were able to create more opportunities for our families, build better and safer roads, and generate more jobs for residents. More over, we did it without ever raising taxes.

  Together we made a commitment to the long-term health and beauty of our city. Just this past year, our City dedicated a renewed Minnehaha Park, broke ground on the Edward Doyle Police Building, and took steps to provide funding for the clean up and maintenance of Maitland’s lakes for future generations.

With the help of community partners, we were able to provide funding for new initiatives like the Maitland Farmer’s Market, Movies in the Park, and Art & Music Under the Stars. Programs like these have brought our families closer together and helped keep our community vibrant and strong.

 When I took office three years ago, I never dreamed that our future would be as bright as it is today. I look forward to new beginnings and to the formation of new partnerships as we face the challenges that 2009 will most certainly bring. With strong leadership, stronger partnerships and an involved community, the City of Maitland is uniquely positioned for great success in the coming months and years.
