Meet Our Mayor, Doug Kinson

Since being elected to office in April of 2006, Mayor Kinson has begun a number of initiatives. He began his term as Mayor by bringing all of Council and city staff together to generate a plan that began a process for long-term strategic planning. This plan evolved into the Essential Priorities that form the cornerstone of this budget. From bringing focus to more effective communications, to redefining downtown development, Mayor Kinson’s commitment is to make the City of Maitland a better place for each and every resident.

Mayor Kinson moved to Central Florida over 23 years ago from Madison, Wisconsin. He received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in Management along with his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. He has held many leadership positions in Central Florida. After being elected Chairman of the Board of the Seminole County/Lake Mary Regional Chamber of Commerce, he became President of his Rotary Club and served as President of Maitland Little League during the Maitland All-Stars trip to Williamsport in 2005.

He started his professional career with IBM in Orlando and has been a commercial real estate specialist for the past 15 years. He is currently the Executive Vice President of Real Property Specialists, Inc. Doug and his wife, Barbara, live in Maitland Woods with their children, Cole, Cassidy and Kaley.
